Job Overview
As a Ghostwriter at TruMemories, you will be responsible for transforming personal experiences, interviews, and research into engaging, well-structured manuscripts. Your role is to give voice to our clients’ memories, ensuring authenticity, emotional depth, and narrative flow while maintaining confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal & Legacy Storytelling:
- Craft compelling memoirs, biographies, and personal history books based on client interviews, recordings, and research.
- Weave emotions, cultural heritage, and historical context into narratives that resonate deeply with readers.
- Interviewing & Research:
- Conduct in-depth interviews with clients, family members, and key individuals to gather life stories.
- Perform historical and cultural research to enrich stories with accurate details.
- Creative & Narrative Excellence:
- Adapt writing styles to match the client’s voice, tone, and personality.
- Structure stories using creative nonfiction, immersive storytelling, or documentary-style approaches.
- Ensure seamless flow and coherence in storytelling while maintaining factual accuracy.
- Confidentiality & Ethics:
- Handle sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality and respect.
- Accurately represent clients’ experiences while ensuring ethical storytelling practices.
- Collaboration & Client Relations:
- Work closely with editors, project managers, and clients to refine manuscripts.
- Be receptive to feedback and revisions to align with client expectations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a ghostwriter, memoirist, or biographical writer.
- Strong storytelling ability with a deep understanding of emotional engagement in narratives.
- Excellent interviewing and research skills, particularly in personal history and legacy writing.
- Ability to write in multiple voices and styles to authentically reflect clients’ perspectives.
- Understanding of cultural nuances, historical contexts, and intergenerational storytelling.
- Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and structure.
- Strong ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in journalism, creative writing, or history is a plus.
