As we expand, we seek a skilled Bookkeeper to help monitor our financial records, track transactions, and support the company’s financial health through structured bookkeeping.
Job Overview
As a Freelance Bookkeeper, you will oversee financial records, ensure accurate reporting, and provide insights to support company growth. Your primary responsibility will be monthly financial check-ins, reviewing income, expenses, and overall financial health while maintaining organized financial records.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Monitoring & Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Track income, expenses, and company transactions.
- Ensure financial data is well-organized and easy to access.
2. Monthly Bookkeeping & Reconciliation:
- Conduct monthly check-ins to review company books and transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure all financial entries align.
- Identify and correct any discrepancies in financial records.
3. Financial Reporting & Insights:
- Generate basic financial reports (profit & loss, cash flow summaries, etc.).
- Provide insights on company spending and financial trends.
- Recommend basic strategies for improving financial efficiency.
4. Expense Tracking & Budget Support:
- Help categorize and track company expenses.
- Ensure all payments and invoices are recorded properly.
- Assist in setting up simple budgeting frameworks if needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accountant, or Finance Assistant.
- Strong knowledge of basic bookkeeping, financial reconciliation, and expense tracking.
- Familiarity with bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks, Wave, or Excel).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with small businesses, consulting firms, or startups.
- Knowledge of financial reporting best practices.
- Understanding of Nigerian business finance and tax regulations (a plus but not required).
