Job Overview
As a Fiction Writer (StoryCraft Expert) at Author Coaching, you will play a crucial role in crafting inspired manuscripts for our clients. You will be responsible for developing unique storylines, creating dynamic characters, and ensuring storytelling excellence. This role requires deep expertise in fiction writing, narrative development, and creative structuring.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fiction Writing & Story Development:
- Craft compelling fiction manuscripts across various genres, including literary fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, and contemporary fiction.
- Develop intricate plots, well-rounded characters, and immersive worlds.
- Ensure consistency in tone, style, and voice while aligning with client vision.
2. Collaborative Manuscript Development:
- Work closely with authors to refine and develop their ideas into full-fledged stories.
- Provide structural, thematic, and stylistic suggestions to elevate the manuscript.
- Conduct manuscript critiques and rewrites to enhance story depth and engagement.
3. Creative & Narrative Excellence:
- Experiment with diverse storytelling techniques, including nonlinear narratives, multiple POVs, and immersive prose.
- Adapt writing styles to suit different genres, themes, and target audiences.
- Ensure coherence, pacing, and emotional depth in all storytelling elements.
4. Research & Authenticity:
- Conduct thorough research on historical settings, cultural contexts, and specialized topics to enrich storytelling.
- Integrate accurate details into fiction to enhance believability and reader engagement.
5. Client & Team Collaboration:
- Participate in brainstorming sessions with authors, editors, and fellow StoryCraft Experts.
- Receive and implement feedback from clients and editors while maintaining the manuscript’s creative integrity.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a fiction writer, novelist, or storyteller with a strong portfolio of published or ghostwritten works.
- Deep understanding of narrative structure, character development, and world-building.
- Ability to adapt writing styles to match the author’s voice and the story’s needs.
- Strong research skills to add depth and authenticity to stories.
- Experience in handling manuscript development, critiques, and rewrites.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in creative writing, literature, or scriptwriting.
- Experience working with authors, literary agents, or publishing houses.
- Familiarity with contemporary fiction trends and literary market demands.
